In this 3D rendered animation, my grandmother’s front lawn is being flooded from inside the house. In a small town in the south of Limburg, everyone has a front lawn like this. The front lawn becomes a symbol for normative adherence and deceptive social equality. Although there are elements of nature, it is of a complete banal beauty, devoid of any character exemplified by the mown grass and trimmed bushes. The front lawn becomes an extension of the apparent social order of the inner house.
