Where is my Spanish Great Grandmother?

My grandmother has always said that we have Spanish blood. After years of claiming (with unfound pride) my 12.5% Spanish heritage, I went to the archives. It turns out there is no Spanish blood and in fact, my family has lived 250 years in the same 20 km radius around Maastricht. For me this archival journey is about the power of altering and morphing familial (and eventually national) histories.
